John Howard Yoder [1927-1997]
A professor at Notre Dame for 30 years and well-known as a Mennonite and pascifist. Yoder grew up in the Midwest and got his PHD in Basel, Switzerland in the 50s. At the height of the Vietnam Era, his Politics of Jesus [1972] became intensely popular in both conservative evangelical and liberal Protestant circles because of his intense dedication to the authority of the Bible and nonviolent resistance. It was listed in the Top 10 Greatest works of Theology of the 20th century by Christianity Today Magazine [#5]. More and more, Evangelicals are finding Yoder's voice refreshing, demanding and illuminating for what it means to be faithful in this ever-changing world. This blog will expose his unique ideas.
